Gears is good, not great
Nov 27 2006, 11:44 AM EST Having played this game for hours on end for the last week, I can say: 1. I know why Gears shattered sales records and replaced Halo 2 as the top title on Xbox Live. 2. I can see why so many critics have gushed about it and sent chocolates and love letters to CliffyB and Epic. 3. I think it's a really good game. 4. But not a great game. 5. The single player compaign is disappointingly short 6. There's no story, and the dialogue is truly bad. 7. The cut scenes are annoying. 8. The graphics are awesome, but here's just not much innovation beyond the next-gen visuals. 9. Gears is ridiculously hard, which I love. 10. It's an exciting ride, albeit a short-lived one. It's definitely worth the price of admission, but I wouldn't give a perfect score or even an A. 3 out of 16 found this valuable. Do you? |
